June 30, 2025

Transcript

A urinalysis is a test that checks the appearance, concentration, and content of urine to detect and manage a wide range of disorders like urinary tract infections, kidney disease, and diabetes. It is done for several reasons like checking overall health during a routine medical exam.

Screening for disorders during hospital admissions, diagnosing medical conditions like abdominal pain, frequent urination, blood in urine, monitoring medical conditions like kidney disease, or urinary tract infection.

The test can help to identify the cause of signs and symptoms and recommend treatment accordingly. However, other tests like pregnancy testing and drug screening rely on urine sample but look for substance that are not included in a typical urinalysis.
