What are the symptoms for a urinary tract infection?

June 30, 2025

Transcript

UTIs can have different symptoms depending on which part of the urinary tract is affected. For bladder infection, common symptoms include painful or burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination, bloody urine, and pressure or cramping in the lower abdomen. Symptoms of a kidney infection may include fever, chills, lower back or side pain, nausea, or vomiting.

Younger children may be able to communicate their symptoms, but fever is the most common sign of UTI in infants and toddlers. However, most children with fever did not have a UTI. It is important to talk to a healthcare professional if you have concerns about your child having a UTI.
